About the Lanark Highlands Fire Department

The Lanark Highlands Fire Service (LHFS) was formed in 1997 through amalgamation and provides fire services to 1,048,83 square kilometers of land. LHFS consists of 70 highly trained volunteers under the direction of a full time Fire Chief.

  • Station 1 – Lanark Village
  • Station 2 – Middleville
  • Station 3 – McDonalds Corners
  • Station 4 – Tatlock

LHFS service levels are authorized by Municipal Council. Approved fire protection services are outlined in the most current Establishing & Regulating By-Law.

Provision of fire protection is accomplished through public education/fire prevention, code enforcement and emergency responses. In Ontario, progressive fire and life safety codes are enacted to ensure safety, health and welfare of people and property.

LHFS mission is to provide the best emergency response possible to Township residents. This includes fire suppression, emergency response, fire prevention, public education, and community emergency planning. The department also aims to protect life, property, and the environment through preparedness, prevention, and emergency response.
